Can you still graduate after dropping out?

The years you already spent in school are not erased because you left. What happens next depends on what you do with them.

First: find out what credits you already have

Before deciding anything, request your transcript from the last high school you attended, even if it was years ago and even if you assume none of it counts. Quite often some does. Sometimes it is nearly all of it and the person simply never went back to collect it.

If the school has closed, the state education agency or the district usually holds the records. That is a normal request and they handle it routinely.

If the credits are gone, that is not the end

Sometimes there is no usable record. That does not disqualify anyone from finishing. It changes the route, because a route that depends on past coursework cannot help you — but both of the main routes can be completed without it.

A diploma programme that a school manages issues the credits itself when the student passes. That is the point of it: the school is the authority, so the record starts with the school rather than with a transcript you have to recover.

What to do about the gap on your record

People worry about explaining the years between leaving school and now. In practice, once you hold the credential, the question changes. Employers and colleges ask what you have, not when you got it — and a completed diploma answers the only question that was actually blocking you.

What the route looks like

At Autumn Grove, a student completes the programme across eight subject areas for 24 credits and sits the school examination. It is taken online, from home, in a single session. Passing earns the diploma and the full 24 credits.

The examination can be retaken as many times as needed at no additional charge, which matters specifically for anyone who left school early — one bad sitting should not decide the outcome. Records and transcripts are issued by the school office; each diploma is numbered and registered.

Common questions

Do my old high school credits count?

Sometimes. Request your transcript first — it is worth checking before you assume they do not.

What if my old school has closed?

The state education agency or district usually holds the records. Ask them for a copy.

How long does it take?

It depends on the student, because the programme is completed at your own pace from home.
