Checking credibility
Is an online diploma accepted?
The question is not whether the diploma was earned online. It is whether the school behind it is real, and that is a question you can settle before you enrol.
The format is not the issue
Many established schools — including large universities — now teach entirely online. What employers and colleges evaluate is the credential and the institution behind it, not whether anyone sat in a room.
Which means the honest answer to "is an online diploma accepted?" is: it depends entirely on which school issues it. A diploma from a school that holds records and can verify its graduates is accepted. A document from a business that keeps no records is not, and no amount of presentation changes that.
How to tell the difference before you pay
Ask four questions. A real programme answers all of them without hesitation:
- What must be completed? There should be a defined programme — a number of credits, in named subject areas.
- What must be passed? There should be an assessment. A document that is issued on payment rather than on passing is a receipt, not a diploma.
- Who keeps the record? The school should maintain a record of the graduate indefinitely, so it can be verified years later by an employer or a college.
- Who issues the transcript? The school itself, from its own office. If you are asked to assemble your own transcript, that is not a school record.
What to ask a college or employer directly
If you have a specific college or a specific job in mind, ask them. Admissions offices answer this question constantly and will tell you what they want. Getting their answer in writing before you enrol costs nothing and removes the guesswork entirely.
How Autumn Grove answers those four questions
The programme is defined: 24 credits across eight subject areas. There is an assessment: the school examination, taken online from home in a single session, and it can be retaken as many times as needed at no additional charge. The school keeps a record of every graduate and each diploma is numbered and registered, so it can be verified later. Transcripts are issued by the school office.
Autumn Grove High School is accredited by the Eastern Association of Private Schools.
Common questions
Will a college accept it?
Colleges generally accept diplomas from accredited programmes. Ask the specific college and get their answer in writing before you enrol.
Can it be verified later?
Yes. The school keeps a record of every graduate and issues transcripts on request. Each diploma is numbered and registered.
Does it matter that I did it from home?
No. What matters is the school behind the credential, not where the work was done.
